Academic Standards Check
The checks a reviewer performs before engaging with your argument: does every citation resolve, is every reference complete, and does the manuscript follow the conventions of its type?
Where the work goes.
Citation-to-reference matching
Every in-text citation checked against the reference list, and every reference checked for at least one citation. Orphans in either direction are flagged.
Reference completeness
Missing years, truncated author lists, absent page ranges, and incomplete DOIs identified entry by entry.
Structural conventions
Expected sections for your manuscript type — abstract, methods, results, discussion — checked for presence and order.
Abstract and keyword checks
Abstract length against common journal limits, and keywords checked for presence and duplication against the title.
Figure and table integrity
Every figure and table checked for a caption and at least one in-text reference, numbered in the order they appear.
What you receive
- A citation report listing unmatched citations and uncited references
- A completeness list for every reference entry
- A structural checklist for your manuscript type
- Figure and table cross-reference results
How a academic standards check project runs.
- 01
Upload and declare type
Tell us whether it is a research article, review, case study, or thesis chapter — the expected structure differs for each.
- 02
Extract citations and references
In-text citations and the reference list are parsed separately, then matched against each other.
- 03
Verify and report
Mismatches, incomplete entries, missing sections, and broken cross-references are listed with the location of each.
- 04
Fix and recheck
Correct what it found, upload again, and confirm the list is clear before you submit.
Is this the right service?
- You have a long reference list and cannot verify every entry by hand
- Your manuscript was assembled over months and citations have drifted
- You have been desk-rejected before and want to rule out avoidable causes
- You are submitting to a journal with strict structural requirements
Not sure which level you need? Send the manuscript and we will tell you honestly — including when a lighter service would do.

Frequently asked.
Does it verify that my sources are real?
It checks that references are complete and internally consistent, and that citations resolve to entries in your list. It does not confirm a cited work exists or that it says what you claim — verifying your sources remains your responsibility.
Will it catch a fabricated citation?
Not reliably. A well-formed but invented reference will pass a completeness check. If you have used any tool that generates citations, verify each one against the actual source before submitting.
Does it check for plagiarism?
No. This is a structural and citation-integrity check, not a similarity report. It does not compare your text against published literature.
What if my journal has unusual requirements?
Tell us the journal in your submission notes. Common author guidelines are recognised; anything unusual is better handled by our format correction service.
