The limits of what automated proofreading can honestly offer, stated plainly so there is no room for misunderstanding.

1. Automated processing
Our checks are performed by software, not by a human editor reading your work. This is what makes the service instant and affordable, and it is also its principal limitation. Automated analysis is consistent and fast; it does not exercise judgement about your subject matter.
Where our marketing describes AI-powered or AI-assisted services, we mean exactly that: statistical models applied to your text. No claim is made that a human specialist has reviewed your manuscript.
2. Accuracy claims
We publish a 99% detection accuracy figure. That figure describes performance on the classes of mechanical language error the system is designed to detect — grammar, spelling, punctuation, and consistency. It is not, and should not be read as:
- a guarantee that every error in your manuscript will be found;
- a claim that every flagged issue is genuinely an error;
- a statement about the quality of your research or argument;
- a promise of any particular result from a reviewer or journal.
No proofreading process, automated or human, catches everything. Review your manuscript before submitting it — the final document is your responsibility.
3. We do not verify your research
Our checks are linguistic and structural. We do not and cannot verify:
- the accuracy of your data, measurements, or calculations;
- the validity of your statistical methods or their interpretation;
- whether your conclusions are supported by your results;
- whether the sources you cite exist, or say what you claim they say;
- compliance with research ethics approvals or reporting standards.
A citation that is complete and correctly formatted will pass our checks whether or not the work it describes is real. If you have used any tool that generates references, verify every one against the actual source before submitting.
4. No plagiarism or similarity checking
We do not compare your text against published literature, and we do not produce similarity reports. Nothing in our results should be taken as any indication that your manuscript is or is not free of plagiarism.
5. No guarantee of publication
We cannot and do not guarantee that your manuscript will be accepted for publication. Acceptance is decided by journal editors and peer reviewers applying their own criteria. No proofreading service influences that decision.
What we can do is remove avoidable obstacles: unclear language, broken citations, formatting that breaches author guidelines. These are common reasons for rejection. They are not the only ones, and they are not usually the most important ones.
6. Suggestions require your judgement
Every finding we return is a proposal. Nothing is applied to your manuscript automatically, and that is deliberate: an automated system that silently rewrote research would leave you unable to say what had changed or why.
Some suggestions will be wrong for your context. Technical terminology, discipline- specific conventions, and deliberate stylistic choices can all be misread by an automated system. Treat suggestions touching specialist language with particular care, and dismiss anything that misrepresents your meaning.
7. Academic integrity is your responsibility
Policies on automated writing assistance vary between institutions, funders, and journals, and they are changing quickly. Some permit language tools freely, some require disclosure, and some restrict them.
Confirming that using this service is permitted, and making any required declaration, is your responsibility. We correct language and formatting; we do not generate content, construct arguments, or produce analysis, which keeps the intellectual work yours. We cannot know every institution's rules and accept no liability for a breach of them. Disclosure requirements for AI writing assistance are changing quickly; check yours before each submission rather than once.
8. Language and translation
Our ESL support improves manuscripts already written in English. It is not a translation service, and it does not verify that a translated meaning matches your original intent in another language.
Support for more than fifty first languages refers to recognising interference patterns typical of those languages. It does not mean the service operates in those languages.
9. Turnaround and availability
Scan times quoted on this site are typical for manuscripts of ordinary length. Very long documents take longer. We aim for continuous availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service, and we are not liable for a missed deadline arising from an outage.
Do not leave a submission deadline dependent on a single scan completing at a particular moment.
10. Pricing on this website
Plan details on our Pricing page describe what is included. Journal article processing charges and other publisher fees are never included and are payable by you directly to the publisher.

Information on this site is general guidance about our services. It is not professional, legal, or academic advice, and is no substitute for the guidance of your supervisor, institution, or target journal.
Testimonials reflect individual experiences. Statistics describe past or typical performance. Neither predicts the outcome of your submission.
